ISD Report

Description:
During the 1st quarter of this semester, I've worked on designing a mural for this class room. I've been focusing on what would go into the mural and what major factors would be in it also. There's no preview of what the mural would look like yet but there's some snippets of what is part of the final design. In this mural, my idea consists of a person with half of them made of the technology and models in the class room  that has been made by students and Cornell.

Resources Used:
I've only been looking at reference pictures and using people as references because I'm using their models. For example, I'm using some of Cornell's most well known models he's done and is being displayed in the public.

Reflection:
During the past quarter, I've been sketching out different models I want to use in my final design. I've also been sketching out the pose I have in my mind to practice the stance I want in the mural. I haven't been able to get a preview of what the mural would look like because I'm still in the beginning stages of picking out what I want and need in this design to be able to convince Cornell why I should be able to paint the mural in his classroom. To help me, I've also started drawing different styles that I like and love for human features to help me practice and be able to use as part  of my final design. I wanted to make this mural a scifi/realistic design that relates to this technology classroom so I may change my first idea to be able to fulfill what I want and what Cornell likes for this project. I wasn't able to start my design at the beginning of the semester and I wasn't able to consistently work on designing because I also worked on my TSA project.

Project #1

Artwork Title: Different
Description: This artwork contains a girl with her very unique features. The only colors I have are red and purple because I like to emphasize different pieces in my artwork. The part where there is no eye is a whole burning and then there's lace tied to hold onto the skin. The mask is sewn to her face to hide from what under. The lace over the mouth area is there for the same reason there's lace for the eye. Her neck is open but it's holding onto the skin on the side using nails and thread. Her hand is a skeleton hand with the unique feature of nail like fingertips that fade to black. My favorite part of this piece is her eye, it's purple to match the mask (and it's my favorite color).

Summary: This artwork took about 4 1/2 hours. Two class periods I worked on it and also worked on it on one off period. To start with an artwork, a sketch of what your want it to look like or the positions of different objects is first. Then when I had what I wanted, I started coloring it in. I have many layers and pieces to make the coloring process easier, also it separates layers of the sketches and the colors apart.
